26 April 2022
I've got two important updates for you today. First is the announcement that our reunion hotel will be the Antlers Plaza (a Wyndham hotel) in downtown Colorado Springs. Hotel registration is now open, and you can get there with this link. You can also call the hotel directly at (719) 955-5600 if you have trouble with or questions about the registration webpage. Make your reservations ASAP, as the block of rooms is limited, and registration closes on 29 Aug 22.
Registration for the reunion itself is NOT yet available, but as soon as we have a link for that, I'll pass it along.
Second, our reunion leads, Miles & Deb Kirkhuff, need to step down to focus on family priorities. Please read Miles' message below for details, and to learn how you can volunteer to take up the reins.
See you in C-Springs,

Redtags,
I’m happy to announce that the host hotel for our 40th reunion will be The Antlers Colorado Springs located in downtown Colorado Springs. As we have mentioned before, there are many events happening (both Academy related and non-Academy) in Colorado Springs during the Academy reunion weekends this Fall and ours is no exception. If you wish to stay at the Host Hotel, please make your hotel reservations ASAP.
You can make your hotel reservations using this link or by contacting The Antlers hotel directly (719) 955-5600.
Make sure you tell them that you are attending the USAFA Class 1982 40th Reunion. Rest assured our plan is to have overflow billeting nearby within walking distance. We have never been able to billet everybody at the same hotel for past reunions and this reunion is no exception.
The reunion registration web site used to sign up for the different events is still being designed by Armed Forces Reunion (AFR) and will be populated with our class specific data soon.
Reservation Due Date: All hotel reservations, regardless of reservation method must be made No Later Than 12:00 pm on Monday 29 August 2022.
Each classmate will be responsible for their own room, PIF (Property Improvement Fund), tax and incidental charges.
The Antlers will also offer complimentary basic wireless interest in the guest rooms and lobby area; waive ancillary fees for the fitness center use, sending/receiving faxes, resort fees, early departure fees by checkout time, and automatic bellman and maid service fees.
Parking: The Antlers is pleased to offer Valet parking as an added convenience for their guests. Valet Parking charges are $22.00 overnight with in and out privileges, and Self-Parking at the hotel at rate of $12.00 per vehicle, per night.
Important: One piece of news I need to pass on is that I’m handing over the stick as the Reunion lead. With family issues and the demands that come with it, I’m finding that I can’t expend the necessary time and energy required to give due justice to the reunion. As some folks know, Deb was diagnosed with cancer in Nov of 2020. The journey has had its ups and downs, but we have realized that our priorities are changing. I will be handing off the stick as soon as a new reunion lead has been chosen. Our Class President (Jim Demarest) will be making the final decision on the new lead. If you wish to volunteer for the job please contact Jim (James.T.Demarest@gmail.com) and let him know. As soon as my replacement is identified, I will be briefing him/her as to where we are in the planning phase and the current way forward as well as passing on all reunion related documents. Planning will be ongoing and should be transparent throughout the entire process. If you have any questions as we progress towards the reunion, please feel free to contact us until our replacements can be found.
