Our class president, BGEN Jim “Boots” Demarest retired from the Air National Guard after 23 years of service. He flew his fini flight in the F-15 on 4 Dec 21 with the 125th Fighter Wing, Jacksonville, FL. During the sortie, Boots flew a max performance takeoff followed by a supersonic run and three Air Combat Maneuvering engagements against an Air Force F-35A Lightning.

Jim’s final assignment was as the Chief of Staff for the Florida Air National Guard, Joint Force Headquarters, St. Augustine, Florida. Prior to that he served for 10 years as a JAG at the unit, state, and national level. After graduating with our class in ’82, he completed pilot training and was stationed at Bitburg Air Base, Germany, flying F-15s. He served on active duty for 10 years with assignments as an F-15 Weapons Officer and is a Desert Storm veteran.
